About The Golden Valley Fire Department

Golden Valley Fire Truck

Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Department's 54 employees include one deputy fire marshal, one public education specialist/training coordinator, one fire/property maintenance specialist, one administrative assistant, and 50 paid, on-call firefighters (including one deputy chief, three captains, and three lieutenants).

The GVFD is a member of both the North Suburban Regional Mutual Aid Association and the Southwest Mutual Aid Association, which includes mutual aid to and from 40 metro area fire departments and automatic aid to and from the Plymouth and St Louis Park Fire Departments. Fire calls are dispatched through the St Louis Park Dispatch Center.

Fire safety education is one of GVFD's highest priorities, and the department sponsors two annual Safety Camps for kids and many other community-based activities.
