Picnic Shelters

Groups and individuals wishing to hold neighborhood, family, or company picnics at the Brookview Recreation Complex (southwest corner of Hwy. 55 & Winnetka) may rent the picnic shelters at Brookview Park. The shelters are available mid-April through the first week of October, from either 11 am to 4 pm or 5 pm to dusk. Both shelters are easy walking distance to the playgrounds and sand volleyball courts. Brookview Park’s total capacity is 300.

Large Picnic Shelter

The large shelter is located toward the center of the park. It has 15 picnic tables for 100 people, two parking lots, six charcoal grills, restrooms, a fireplace, running water, and 16 electrical outlets. Parties renting the large shelter may also reserve the small softball field just southwest of the shelter.

Fee: $95 resident, $105 non-resident

Small Picnic Shelter

The small shelter is located on the north end of the park. It has a parking lot, 10 picnic tables for 50 people, 4 charcoal grills, and 6 electrical outlets.

Fee: $80 resident, $90 non-resident

Play Equipment

$15/kit, plus a $30 refundable deposit
Kits include: 1 Basketball, 1 Soccer Ball, 1 Mini Soccer Ball, 1 Playground Ball, 4 Throw down Bases, 2 Softballs, 1 Child Softball Bat, and 1 Adult Softball bat. Extras available for an additional $10/items: tug of war rope and bocce ball set. Return within 72 hours of checkout.

2010 Reservations

Brookview will accept picnic shelter reservations from Golden Valley residents, businesses, churches, or organizations starting January 14. Beginning February 11, anyone outside of Golden Valley may make reservations. Residents may not reserve shelters for outside groups or individuals.

Reservations must be made in person at Brookview Community Center, 200 Brookview Parkway, or through the mail. Reservations are taken over the telephone ONLY if payment is made with a VISA or MasterCard. In-person reservations have priority over phone reservations

NEW IN 2010: A $100 refundable deposit is due and payable at time of reservation. Refunds will be processed the week after your reservation date. Deposits paid with credit card will arrive immediately. Deposits paid with check or cash may take up to four weeks to arrive.

Groups or individuals wishing to serve beer or wine must purchase a special permit for $20, payable at the time the reservation is made.
