Golden Valley's Annual Lilac Planting Party Aims To Beautify Hwy 55 Roadway

Volunteers plant lilacs and other shrubs along Hwy 55.

Envision the main artery of Golden Valley—Hwy 55, or Olson Memorial Highway— as a lilac-lined thoroughfare.

Golden Valley’s Envision Connection Project Bridge Builders has teamed up with the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Community Roadside Landscaping Partnership Program to implement a vision of lilacs and other shrubs along the sides of Hwy 55, and golden wildflowers in the median through Golden Valley.

The project kicked off with a planting party Saturday, Oct 4, 2008. A second annual planting party took place on Sept 26, 2009.
